Sea Breeze Ribbon Flower
Description
A beautiful handmade ribbon flower in calm blues and naturals, with a natural shell button centre. This unique flower will brighten up any space and would make a lovely gift for any occasion.
For this flower I used a gorgeous ribbon which is hand-dyed here in the UK. It is a wide ribbon with fluffy bits at random intervals along the edges - quite mad, but makes fabulous showy flowers! The flower heads are slightly bigger than my other flowers, making a real statement flower.
I make these quirky artificial flowers on my vintage flower loom. Each flower head is finished with a natural shell button centre and is securely stitched to a green fabric wrapped stem. The stem is quite flexible and can be bent or even wrapped around something. The weight of the flower head gives the stem a lovely natural curve when they are displayed in a vase.
These flowers are 3.5" (9cm) across and the stems are 9" (23cm) long (measurements are approximate). As the flowers are all individually handmade yours may differ slightly from the photographs shown.
Inspiration
I created my first ffflower when I was experimenting with my set of vintage flower looms; I added a button centre and a stem to my flower and decided I really liked the result.
Now I create a range of quirky artificial flowers from all sorts of different materials, ranging from beautiful ribbons hand-dyed in the UK, to novelty yarns, and even upcycled plastic packaging.
