A single red rose, stitched in tapestry and other wools, against a background knitted in mohair blend yarn, forms the design for this textile brooch.

The background for this brooch has been cut from a piece of hand knitting which has then been machine basted to a thick woolen fabric. The rose and leaves have been stitched in tapestry wools using a variety of simple stitches. Further details have been added in embroidery thread. The design is framed by a row of couching over a pale gray yarn. The back of the brooch is neatened with commercial felt slip-stitched in place. A brooch pin is securely stitched to the brooch.
