French country style plate rack
Description
This was made in reclaimed pine that originally was part of the ceiling in Manchester Victoria station when built. It has been very carefully sanded back to reveal the original natural colour with a tiny bit of paint left on it.It will hold 10 large dinner plates and 10 smaller ones in two layers. It has some very old 19th century french architraving around the top.25 x20 x 8 ins.
Inspiration
This is a plate rack that was inspired by a visit to La Rochelle where I saw something similar on a market stall.I sourced the wood from a local demolition yard and an old french door that was beyond repair.
