Silk Viscose velvet shibori hand dyed scarf - yellow DNA - Sale
Description
Created from 18% silk / 82% viscose high quality white velvet, this scarf has first been dyed yellow and then, using a traditional shibori technique, compressed and dyed with droplets and hand blended dyes in blue and brown, which belnding with the yellow give a range of colours in the pattern.
Double sided, this long scarf measures approximately 54inches x 10 inches 137cms x 25cms.
Hand wash or dry clean, this easy care scarf will warm up a cold winters day. The high quality velvet is wonderfully soft and drapes beautifully.
Because of the techniques used when making my scarves, no two will be identical. You are buying a wearable piece of art - handmade in my North Somerset garden studio, inspired by nature, music, sights and sounds.
To make way for new stock I have reduced the price of this scarf - normally £27.50, on sale for £22.50.

Inspiration
Not so much why I made this scarf but how I came by the name? The 'yellow' bit is obvious, the velvet is dyed yellow. TO get the pattern the velvet was then pressed onto a large tube, scrunched up and using a shibori technique, dyed with droplets of dye. The unravelled pattern reminded me DNA prints - perhaps I watch too many 'who dunnits' on TV?!
