The Stray Cow / Y Fuwch Gyfeiliorn
Description
A popular local legend relates how a neighbouring farmer was fortunate enough to acquire one of these remarkable fairy cows.
He profited from the cow and became greedy.
Worried that she may no longer be able to provide abundant milk and calves due to her age, he arranged to take her to the butchers.
The knife was about to be struck down onto the cow, when a loud cry paralysed his arm. The cry was from a woman of the hills who called to the cow to follow her back into the lake. And thereupon, the Stray Cow left the farm and disappeared forever into the lake.
A perfect gift for a childrens’ room or anyone with an interest in folklore
