A microbes brooch in a miniature petri dish.

I worked as a microbiologist for over 12 years and as part of my job would look at bacterial growth on agar plates spread out to get single colonies to help us identify the cause of infections in patients or even food and milk samples.

Here I have made in miniature what a plate may have looked like using seed beads and mohair thread.

The petri dish is 50mm ( 2 inches) in diameter and the brooch is approximately 45mm and the back has a 1 inch nickle plated brooch pin bar.
