Each card in this range (Bessie Friends) starts off with a character illustration in black ink, which I then scan in and add colour digitally before printing onto photopaper, mounting onto tissue paper and white 200gsm card and adding the finishing touches with glitter and fabric pens by hand. Each card is 150mm (h) x 100mm (w) with a white C6 envelope, sealed in a cello packet.
The back of every card in this range has instructions dedicated to each character from baking cookies with Dot to DJing with Dan!

Inspiration
This range was started life after an illustration competition I entered for Julia Donaldson’s book Freddie and the Fairy.
The inspiration for DJ Dan definitely came from my superstar husband, and the character is dedicated to him after all the support he has given me despite our opposing tastes in music!
Dan is a dashing DJ, and you guessed it – his passion is music, whether he be listening to it, talking about it, or annoying the neighbours with it! Never one to hide at parties he can always be seen behind the decks bopping away with chocolate bulging from his dungaree pockets.
