Carnelian beaded sterling silver earrings
Description
A stunning pair of beaded semi precious carnelian earrings with the rich red orange carnelian beads woven into a sphere and set on a headpin with tiny carnelian beads either side. The weaving gives these earrings a great weight (there are 15 semi precious stones in each of the handmade earrings) and they provide a real colour splash. Lovely!
Carnelian has been used in decorative arts since the Bronze Age and was particularly popular in Ancient Rome. You can see why from it's vibrant colour, I think.
Twelve red orange carnelian beads make up the sphere, and there is another one inside and two tiny carnelian beads at the top and the bottom of each one. They look a bit like luscious blackberrys, but of course they are red, not black. The dangles are attached to .925 sterling silver earwires.
Supplied gift wrapped and in a tarnish resistant bag. To care for these sweeties, wipe with a soft dry cloth after wearing to preserve the shine.
Dimensions: total drop from piercing 3 cm (just over 1 inch): carnelian beads 6mm: shown on 1cm squared paper in the final shot to give you an idea of scale: please note I use macro photography to show details and the items may appear larger than life size on your monitor.
