Copper Pumpkin Lantern - a Halloween decoration

Description

I know it's a bit early to start thinking about Halloween, but ... What am I saying? It's never to early to start thinking about Halloween!

This tealight holder was inspired by Jack-o-Lanterns, hollowed out pumpkins used as lanterns to scare off the evil spirits on All Hallows' Eve. I always thought it was a shame that those pumpkin lanterns only lasted for a few days, so this tealight holder idea was born out of the wish to have something more long-lasting. You can display this little pumpkin lantern with your Halloween decorations year after year.

This piece was created from a sheet of copper, cut into a length of six ovals. I pierced a face out of the middle of this, then bent it into a six-sided pumpkin shape. It measures 7cm (3") high, and 7cm (3") wide. Its six sides curve under to give a stable base for a tealight (see third image).

Thank you for taking the time to view this piece. If you like my style, but cannot find exactly what you want in my store, just ask - I am very happy to accept commissions. Alternatively, for more of my work, please visit my online gallery at http://sneddoniadesigns.deviantart.com
