This is a handmade round polymer clay brooch which has a safety brooch pin on the back.
It measures 4cms/1.5inches across.

The polymer clay brooch is made with a technique called Mokume Gane. This involves layering different coloured clay - in this case shades of aqua and orange/amber.
The clay is then impressed with a texture. Then the raised part of the texture is carefully shaved away to reveal the layers of colour underneath. It's a tricky procedure as if you slice too deeply you lose the pattern!
This has been textured with a starburst pattern. The jewellery shapes are then cut out from the best parts of the resulting patterned clay.

The back of the brooch has been covered with a layer of clay created using the scrap from the process.
