This concrete stepping stone is decorated with a stained glass mosaic featuring Dragonfly and a pattern of blue coloured pieces as a background (Sky or water).

Each circular stone is 30cm ( just under 12” ) across and about 32mm ( just over 1.25 inches ) thick.
It should be bedded in the garden in the same way as any paving stone and can be left out all year. We have had several in our garden that have been through years of summers and winters with no ill effect and they are strong enough to stand on.

The mosaic is cut by hand from opaque stained glass and the pattern is assembled face down on an adhesive surface. The completed mosaic is placed in a mould and a strong concrete mix is poured over the back of the glass, filling the spaces between each piece. This is allowed to set for at least a couple of weeks before being treated all over with patio seal to protect it against water penetration.

We mainly use handmade glass from KOG in Kokomo, Indiana where they have been making glass since 1888. Their glass has a slight texture rather than looking smooth like plastic and sheets are often made from two or more colours that have been mixed manually while still molten.

I use several general layouts but the combination of my hand selection of colour together with hand cutting and positioning of each piece means that each stone is unique. I am also always working on developing new designs and commissions.

The stones make an interesting garden feature and a welcome splash of colour in the winter.

The weight of the stones vary but they are usually about 5kg.

Postage and Shipping

We usually send using parcel post using a combination of card, polystyrene and a lot of bubble wrap to ensure that the stone is not damaged in transit. If you live within an economic distance from us we may also deliver by hand.
