Dolly Mixtures are a firm favourite of British childhood and corner newsagents.

Made up of brightly coloured tubes and cubes of flavoured sugar paste they are marked with distinctive white stripes and dots.

It is rumoured that they are a smaller version of Empire Mixtures which were multi-coloured marzipan shapes...but there is also a story involving the British Raj in India and the phrase "Dally Mixture"...who knows!
